R1S/R1T Roof Sunshade

Nicolas Cage can steal a car in 60 seconds, but I can install these sunshades even quicker in our 2026 R1S. The case is nice and compact. The clips that hold the shade up are self explanatory. I was worried the clips would be an eye sore, but they aren't. Black clips on a black shade disappear from sight. Putting them back in the case is like stowing a windshield sunshade, again, super fast. The picture is one of the two panels installed.

I’m amazed at the heat reduction in the "sunny South", so I leave mine installed all the time. My R1T cools down faster. It is also a perfect fit and looks good.

Maybe it took 5 minutes to install? And that's because I was filming a review video at the same time. If you've ever installed a similar sunshade in another vehicle it's simple - attach clips and insert under the roof with the shiny side up. Solidly built and come with a nice storage bag.

I have the 2nd Gen R1S. Even though I have the Dynamic Glass Roof, I like having a roof shade, not only to improve heat rejection but I like a darker interior some times. It's easy to install and remove.

Just received my VION R1T Sunshade.

In addition to the sunshade/s and the attachment clips, VION included a nice storage bag to keep everything in when not attached to the sunroof. Extra attachment clips are also included in case you drop one or two under your seat during installation. Although not very likely, it is a nice touch.

Installation is straightforward with the enclosed instructions, and in case you need more detail, VION sends you an installation video link when you order their product. One of the sunshades is tailored for the front and the other is tailored for the back. If it doesn’t look quite right after installation, swap the shades and it will be a perfect fit.

My overall impression is that this is a very solid product. There is no sagging at all. Once installed, it has that OEM feel…something that Rivian might sell in their Gear Shop. The two part sunshade gives it a solid tight feel with no light leaks and no wrinkles. Even with Winter approaching I will probably leave the sunshade installed. It is barely noticeable (unless you remember to look up at it) and probably provides a little sound dampening in the cabin. It is definitely the look I was searching for.

Full Discloser: I had researched a lot of sunshades but added this item to my cart on the VION Website last month, waiting for the R1T version to be released. When VION announced their limited free giveaway, I jumped all over it and was lucky enough to receive one in the mail. That being said, I would definitely purchase this shade. It’s a quality sunshade, good value for the money, and looks GREAT!
